I have had the Classics for Kids link on my side bar since I began blogging. I have always enjoyed their radio show for children, games and activities but today I found some lesson plans for teachers. I decided this morning we needed to change things up a bit and have some fun. So I loosely followed the first lesson in the K-2 curriculum for Gioachino Rossini (found in "Lesson Plans" under the pull down menu "Grown Ups") and instead of me teaching a nearby stuffed animal taught the children about dynamics and tempo. The teddy bear captured his audience and sang loudly, softly, slowly and quickly. The lesson has links to all the resources you need and I printed some coloring pages of different instruments and musical notes that they colored as they listened to William Tell Overture: Finale. I had so much fun and judging by the giggles, I think they did too.
Hey sorry I skipped out just as we were getting to the meat of the conversation! The kids were really spooked saying they kept hearing noises upstairs. Turns out the neighbors were just outside...
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, thanks for inviting me! I really enjoyed it!
