My sister-in-law Tina has a fun way of involving her children in a quick pick-up of the house. They have a race and each thing the child puts away count for one point. Everyone gets a prize if they participate and the winner gets two prizes. I even like to play : ) Mostly because counting gets my attention instead of all the mess around me. Before we know it the house is straightened and in order.
Helping the little ones with their counting helps them learn to clean, work as a team AND how to count! Tina says her kids will actually LOOK for things that are disorganized and organize them. She offers more points if she needs a counter wiped off and the floor swept or vacuumed. The other day we had the whole house looking spiffy in less than a half an hour! (If my husband is reading this, don't get too excited since you CAN have too much of a good thing ; )
Another great idea. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so we just finished this one, I had my kids do it as soon as I read it because I was sitting in a pretty cluttered house and now I am sitting in a peaceful and clean house. My kids loved it also and asked if we could do it every day! Thanks for that wonderful idea.
